Czechs Out Of World Cup

THE Czech Republic have had to withdraw from the Cash Converters World Cup of Darts after being unable to fly to the UK.

The Czech pair of Martin Kapucian and Pavel Drtil fell foul of the inclement weather in Prague on Thursday and were unable to fly to England for the £150,000 tournament.

As such, their first round opponents at the Rainton Meadows Arena, Germany, now receive a bye into the second round, where they will play the Netherlands on Friday night.

Friday's first round schedule of play has also been amended, with Sweden's game against Slovenia moved from being the second game of the day to the fifth after Magnus Caris' flight to England was cancelled on Thursday.

Despite the severe snow in the north-east, no other countries have withdrawn from the Cash Converters World Cup of Darts, with players arriving from as far afield as Japan, New Zealand and America safely to compete this weekend.

The revised schedule of play for the first round of the Cash Converters World Cup of Darts is:
Friday 1pm-5pm
8 x matches between teams ranked 9-24

Finland v Belgium
Austria v Denmark
New Zealand v Poland
Russia v Gibraltar
Sweden v Slovenia
Spain v Japan
Republic of Ireland v Slovakia
Best of 11 legs, 501 Doubles, Loser Throws First

Admission to Friday afternoon's first round session, from 1pm-5pm, will be free of charge, and doors will open at 12pm.
