Richardson Wins PDC Spectacular

CANADA'S Dave Richardson has won the PDC Spectacular in Kingston, Ontario to book his place in the 2015 William Hill World Darts Championship, defeating Shaun Narain in Sunday's final.

The tournament featured 32 players from North America, with four qualifying events each providing eight players who progressed to compete in the knockout main event on Sunday at the Ambassador Hotel & Conference Center.

Richardson, from Ontario, claimed a 3-0 sets win over Dave Switzer in the first round before seeing off Guy Connelly 3-1 and Andre Carman 3-2 to reach the semi-finals.

There, he saw off fellow Canadian Ken MacNeil 3-0 before seeing off top young star Narain 3-1 in the final as he claimed the $3,200 first prize and his place in the William Hill World Darts Championship to represent North America at Alexandra Palace.

Narain - who represented Canada in the 2014 World Cup of Darts and is a former PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship qualifier - was left to settle for the $1,600 runner-up prize as he lost out in the decider.

His run to the final included 3-0 victories over Gord Mills, Ryan Vander Weit and John Part, his World Cup team-mate and the three-time World Champion, before overcoming Dan Olson 3-1 in the semi-finals.

Chris White, Paul Carlsen and Andre Carman joined Part in the quarter-finals of the event, but leading American Darin Young suffered a first round defeat to Guy Connelly to see his hopes of another Alexandra Palace appearance dashed.

The weekend also featured the Canadian Qualifier for the 2015 PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship, with Dawson Murschell defeating Zack Long 4-0 in the final.
