SINGHA Beer Grand Slam Seeds Confirmed

THE seeds for the SINGHA Beer Grand Slam of Darts have been confirmed, ahead of Monday's Wildcard Qualifier and draw.

World number one Michael van Gerwen - the current PDC World Champion, World Grand Prix winner, European Champion and Players Championship Finals winner - will be the number one seed for this year's event at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall from November 8-16.

Reigning Grand Slam of Darts champion Phil Taylor, the current World Matchplay champion, is the number two seed as he seeks to win his sixth title at the Wolves Civic.

Reigning Lakeside Champion Stephen Bunting will make his Grand Slam of Darts debut as the number three seed, with Premier League Darts champion Raymond van Barneveld the number four seed and current UK Open champion Adrian Lewis seeded fifth.

James Wade, who won The Unibet Masters on Sunday night and reached October's World Grand Prix final, is the number six seed, with PDC World Championship finalist Peter Wright seeded seventh and Alan Norris - another debutant, as a result of his run to the Lakeside Championship final - seeded eighth.

Monday's draw - which will be staged at 6pm live on the Free Radio 80s Goalzone show as Tom Ross and Ian Taylor are joined by Rod Harrington - will see the remaining 24 players split into three pools of eight to be drawn into the first round groups for Wolverhampton.

Pot Two features major finalists Dave Chisnall, Andy Hamilton, Kim Huybrechts, Robert Thornton and Simon Whitlock, as well as Gary Anderson, Mervyn King and former Grand Slam champion Scott Waites.

Terry Jenkins, the UK Open and European Championship finalist in 2014, is in Pot Three alongside European Tour winners Michael Smith and Vincent van der Voort, World Youth Champion Keegan Brown, Dean Winstanley and Lakeside Championship stars Jan Dekker, Christian Kist and Tony O'Shea.

World Youth Championship runner-up Rowby-John Rodriguez and former World Cup of Darts finalist Ronny Huybrechts will be in Pot Four, along with former Lakeside Championship semi-finalists Richie George, Robbie Green and Wesley Harms and the three Wildcard Qualifiers.

A field of 232 players will compete in Monday's Wildcard Qualifier at Wigan's Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan, where three places in the final field at the Grand Slam of Darts are on offer.

The Wildcard Qualifier will begin at 12pm and will be played with an unseeded draw, which will play down to the final three players, who progress to play in Wolverhampton.

The field includes three-time World Champion John Part, former Lakeside Champions Mark Webster, Richie Burnett, Steve Beaton and Jelle Klaasen, two-time major winner Colin Lloyd, 1996 World Matchplay winner Peter Evison and former Players Championship Finals winners Kevin Painter and Paul Nicholson.

Major finalists Ronnie Baxter, Brendan Dolan, Wes Newton, Mark Walsh, Colin Osborne, Mark Dudbridge and Wayne Jones are also in action, along with former Grand Slam qualifier Darryl Fitton.
