William Hill World Championship Field

THE provisional field for the William Hill World Darts Championship is now available, following the completion of PDC ProTour events and the International Qualifiers.

The Players Championship double-header in Coventry completed the 34 PDC ProTour events for 2014, with 20 Players Championship events accompanied by six UK Open Qualifiers and eight European Tour events.

The William Hill World Darts Championship features the top 32 players from the main PDC Order of Merit, who qualify by right following the forthcoming Cash Converters Players Championship Finals in Minehead from November 28-30.

The 16 highest ranked non-qualified players from the ProTour Order of Merit then qualify for the World Championship, alongside the top four non-qualified European players from the ProTour Order of Merit.

Going into the Players Championship Finals, four players in the 32-man field could still break into the world's top 32 next weekend; Darren Webster, Andrew Gilding, Christian Kist and Benito van de Pas.

However, all will still qualify for the World Championship through the ProTour Order of Merit - as the top four qualifiers - regardless of their performance in the Players Championship Finals, as would the player(s) they replace should they break into the top 32.

Welshman Gerwyn Price and Australia's Kyle Anderson, who both won PDC Tour Cards in January, have qualified for the World Championship through the ProTour Order of Merit - with Anderson, who landed a nine-darter in last year's event, set to compete at Alexandra Palace for a third successive year.

Austria's Rowby-John Rodriguez and Mensur Suljovic, Holland's Ron Meulenkamp and Germany's Max Hopp occupy the four European qualifying places from the ProTour Order of Merit.

Hopp's ranking means that Sascha Stein, the runner-up to the teenager in the Bulls Superleague Germany event, will qualify to make his World Championship debut as one of the International Qualifiers in the Preliminary Round.

Croatia's Robert Marijanovic, Greece's John Michael and Japan's Haruki Muramatsu also secured their World Championship places in the final weekend of International Qualifiers.

DPA Australian Grand Prix Order of Merit winner Loz Ryder, Oceanic Masters champion John Weber and North American qualifier Dave Richardson will go straight into the First Round draw alongside next Monday's PDPA Qualifier winner.

The PDPA Qualifier runner-up will complete the 16-player Preliminary Round field alongside the majority of the International Qualifiers, with Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney, Philippines' Christian Perez and Finland's Jani Haavisto all making their return to Alexandra Palace.

New Zealand's Mark McGrath, South Africa's Nolan Arendse, Spain's Cristo Reyes, Hong Kong's Alex Hon, Russia's Boris Koltsov, America's Scott Kirchner and Holland's Jermaine Wattimena all set to make their World Championship debuts.

Finland's Kim Viljanen is also making his first Alexandra Palace appearance after finishing third in the SDC Order of Merit, with second-placed Jarkko Komula ineligible to play due due to a suspension from the Finnish Darts Organisation which has been upheld by the DRA.

Next Monday's PDPA Qualifier will feature PDPA members who have not otherwise qualified or played in an International Qualifier.

The field is set to include former world number one Colin Lloyd, former World Championship finalists Mark Dudbridge and Peter Manley, former UK Open finalists Mark Walsh, Barrie Bates and Colin Osborne and former World Youth Champions James Hubbard and Arron Monk.

Former World Matchplay winner Peter Evison is also in the field alongside experienced professionals Denis Ovens, Dennis Smith, Steve Hine, Matt Clark, Alan Tabern and Alex Roy.

The draw for the William Hill World Darts Championship will be made on Tuesday December 2, live on Sky Sports News HQ, at approximately 12.30pm.

The 32 seeded players from the PDC Order of Merit are drawn against the ProTour Order of Merit Qualifiers and International Qualifiers/Preliminary Round winners for the First Round of the World Championship.
