STEPHEN BUNTING is aiming to turn the tables on Peter Wright when the pair clash in the Betway Premier League at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday.
Wright claimed a shock whitewash victory when he swept Bunting aside 10-0 in their most recent meeting at the Coral UK Open eight days ago, producing a ruthless display as he won through to the final.
Bunting bounced back in style with a Premier League win over Dave Chisnall in Nottingham last week, and is targeted a key win over Wright in Glasgow as the pair look to edge away from the elimination battle at the foot of the table.
"I'm hoping that he doesn't beat me to nil again and I can reverse the tables this week - I'll be ready for it!" said Bunting.
"Straight after the game [in Minehead] it was gone out of my mind.
"If you'd taken me back three weeks it would probably have been devastating to me, especially off the back of some heavy defeats in the Premier League.
"But my confidence is there and it was just one game - I can't take anything away from Peter, he's a fantastic player and he had one of those games."
Bunting's victory over Chisnall followed an equally impressive win over Adrian Lewis in Exeter, and after suffering three successive defeats the St Helens man is now aiming for a third straight Premier League triumph.
"I've had a few hard weeks and obviously they don't get any easier, but I feel like I'm back playing some really good darts again," he said.
"I want keep climbing up the table and get as far away from relegation as I can. We all look at the table and its down to us as individuals to push ourselves up the table.
"Confidence is a huge thing in darts, and when you've got confidence on your side you can win any game so it's down to me now to keep that confidence rolling and keep trying to do as well as I can."
