Huybrechts Chasing Maiden Taylor Win

Kim Huybrechts - Betway Premier League (Lawrence Lustig, PDC)

KIM HUYBRECHTS is aiming to give his Betway Premier League challenge a huge boost when he faces Phil Taylor at The Brighton Centre on Thursday.

The Belgian ace has picked up just one point from the opening three weeks of the season, drawing with Raymond van Barneveld in Nottingham a fortnight ago.

He takes on the legendary 16-time World Champion Taylor in Brighton, and knows that a victory would not only create a piece of personal history but also boost his challenge to avoid elimination on Judgement Night.

"This could be one of the last times I'll play the greatest of all time and I've never beaten him on stage," Huybrechts told the Sky Sports website.

"I'm trying to do that so when I finish my career I can say that I beat the best player in the world, ever."

Huybrechts also competed in the 2015 Premier League, and believes that he will begin to get the points to reward his

"I'm happy to be back in the Premier League," added the 31-year-old. "It's tough because you're playing against ten of the best players in the world and it's never easy.

"All the players have to work really hard for it every week. If you're on a big stage like this you have to feel comfortable and at home - that's the case.

"The averages are not bad, but I want more ton-plus averages. Then again, the averages don't say everything at times.

"I would rather win with a decent average than get a 107 like a did against Dave Chisnall two years ago and lose."

The Betway Premier League is live on Sky Sports from 7pm on Thursday from The Brighton Centre.
