Van Gerwen Odds-On With William Hill

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is the 4/5 favourite with sponsors William Hill to retain the William Hill World Darts Championship title.

Following the confirmation of the 72 competing players and the tournament's draw, William Hill have confirmed world number one Van Gerwen as the odds-on favourite as he bids for a third World Championship triumph.

Gary Anderson, the 2015 and 2016 World Champion and last year's beaten finalist, is the 6/1 second favourite ahead of the tournament, which is being played from December 14-January 1 at Alexandra Palace in London.

Number two seed Peter Wright is rated at 8/1 as he bids to follow up his brilliant 2017 - where he has won 11 titles including the UK Open - with his first World Championship title.

Legendary star Phil Taylor is 10/1 to mark his final tournament before retirement with a 17th World Championship victory.

Shooting star Rob Cross is 14/1 to lift the title on his World Championship debut, having won four ProTour events, reached the European Championship final and moved up to 20th in the world in his debut year as a professional.

World Grand Prix champion Daryl Gurney is 40/1 as he bids to follow October's maiden TV title with another victory.

Former World Champions Raymond van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis are joined by Mensur Suljovic at 50/1 to scoop the title on New Year's Day, with the trio of Dave Chisnall, Michael Smith and Simon Whitlock all 125/1.

William Hill's wide range of odds for the tournament includes markets on the nationality of the eventual champion, odds on the number of nine-dart finishes and 170 checkouts which may be achieved, as well as match odds.
