MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has been awarded the Dutch equivalent of an MBE.
The world number one received the Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau from the King of the Netherlands.

Van Gerwen was congratulated by fellow Dutch darts legend Raymond Van Barneveld, who was also a recipient of the prestigious award in 1999.

Since switching to the PDC in 2007, Van Gerwen has racked up an astonishing 41 televised titles, including five televised nine-dart finishes, along with 64 non-televised PDC titles.
The two-time World Champion now has his sights set on adding to his three Premier League crowns at The O2 next month.
