Peter Manley 2-1 Denis Ovens (2-3, 3-2, 3-0)
Sky Bet World Grand Prix First Round
PETER MANLEY came from a set down to end Denis Ovens' hopes in the Sky Bet World Grand Prix.
World number six Manley led 2-1 during the opening set, with a 108 finish giving him a cushion before Ovens hit back with two straight legs to take the advantage.
Ovens then hit a 161 checkout to move 1-0 up in the second set, but Manley produced the pivotal moment in the game when he landed a 118 finish to level matters at 2-2.
He then took the decider to stay in the match and won the final set 3-0 to move into the last 16.
"It's such a short format but I'm happy with that," said Manley.
"I was always out-scoring him and knew that if I could keep it up I'd have a chance. To be honest it was my scoring which probably won me the game.
"There is so much pressure on the top players now and everyone is fighting for places, and it's great for the game."
