Nine-Dart King Wade Takes Title

JAMES WADE has won the JR & Vauxhall Holiday Park Norfolk Mens Singles, hitting a nine-dart leg in the semi-finals before defeating Ronnie Baxter to take the title.

Wade won through to the last four on Saturday before returning to the stage in emphatic style 24 hours later.

He took on Kevin McDine in the semi-finals, hitting a nine-darter in the fifth leg of the match to break a 2-2 deadlock, hitting back-to-back 180s before finishing with treble 20, treble 19 and double 12.

The perfect leg was his third in competition this year, having previously landed one in the UK Open North-West Regional Final in March and June's PDPA Players Championship at Hayling Island.

McDine hit back to take the game into a deciding leg before Wade took the seventh to move into the final.

The other semi-final saw Ronnie Baxter defeat Norfolk's Andy Belton 4-1.

Wade began the final with a 110 finish, and moved 2-0 up before Baxter took the third leg to halve the deficit.

A 132 checkout gave Wade the fourth leg before Baxter took the fifth to pull back to 3-2.

The pair shared the next two legs before Wade won the eighth to take a 5-3 victory.

Deta Hedman won the Ladies Singles title with a 3-1 defeat of Sarah Brent in the final.
