Pallett Aiming For Lewis Upset

DAVID PALLETT is aiming to upset the odds against two-time winner Adrian Lewis when they meet in the William Hill World Darts Championship later this month.

The 24-year-old from Newport, Shropshire, will make his World Championship debut at Alexandra Palace after progressing well on the PDC circuit this year - moving up to 55th in the Order of Merit.

Having cut his teeth on the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour in 2011 and 2012, joined the PDC ProTour the following year and has qualified for six European Tour events since, reaching the last 16 in the German Darts Masters at Easter.

After hitting a nine-dart finish in a UK Open Qualifier in February, Pallett also reached the last 32 of the UK Open finals in Minehead and is now looking to make his mark on the sport's biggest stage against world number three Lewis on December 23.

"Adrian is one of the best players in the world," Pallett told the Shropshire Star. "I think he will be more scared of me than I am of him, to be honest.

"I have nothing to lose and that takes the pressure off. I have to fly out of the traps, maybe take the first set and don’t bottle it from there, as people have done against him in the past.

"I am really looking forward to it, I am happy with the draw and my trip down to London can't come quick enough now. I have waited a long time for this."
