Luke Littler insists he felt ‘unbeatable’ after racing to victory on his Jack’s World Series of Darts Finals debut on Sunday.
Littler produced a series of breathtaking displays to capture his eighth PDC title of 2024 in Amsterdam, overcoming some of the sport’s biggest names to clinch the £80,000 top prize.
The 17-year-old landed five consecutive ton-plus averages and crashed in 34 maximums across a thrilling weekend in the Dutch capital, sealing the title with an emphatic 11-4 success against Michael Smith.
The Warrington superstar landed back-to-back 140 and 130 checkouts to seize the early initiative in Sunday’s showpiece, while a run of seven straight legs saw the young phenom power his way to victory.
“I played some unreal darts this weekend, and I’m really happy to come away as the winner,” reflected Littler, who boasted a tournament average of 103.79.
“I felt like nobody could beat me. I felt on top of the world, and I showed why I came here as the number one seed.
"I felt relaxed and I played really well across the whole weekend. I’m just happy to be stood here with the trophy at the end of a long day.”
Littler survived match darts in a dramatic opening round victory over Ross Smith, before defying a spirited display from Dutch icon Raymond van Barneveld to run out a 6-4 winner in their last 16 tussle.
After kicking off Finals Day with a 10-7 win against Chris Dobey, Littler then reeled off nine straight legs in his 11-4 demolition of Michael van Gerwen, denying the Dutchman a solitary dart at double during this period.
“If anyone wins nine legs on the spin against Michael [van Gerwen] - that’s unbelievable,” continued the Premier League champion.
“Wherever you do it, that is a special achievement, but especially here in Holland, I couldn’t believe it myself.
“Raymond and Michael are both legends. They are players I have looked up to, and now I’ve come here and beaten them. It means everything.
"This time last year I was playing on the Development Tour; my name was getting mentioned but after the World Championship everyone knew who I was.
"I'm going to keep building on this and winning more; it's a busy schedule coming up and I'm ready for it."
