THE second round of the William Hill World Darts Championship gets underway in style on Friday with double World Champions Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen both in action at Alexandra Palace.
Anderson and Van Gerwen have hoovered up the last four world titles between them - with the Scot winning back-to-back tournaments in between Van Gerwen's two victories.
Although the pair don't face each other in round two, they'll have one eye on how they perform on Friday night, with Anderson keen for revenge.
"This is everything, you ask anyone and you'll get the same answer," said Anderson, whose 132 average in a set in his opening tie with Jeff Smith showed his intent.
"Michael took [the title] off me last year and I'd love to do the same to him this year.
"When Michael beat me last year it was the best sleep I'd ever had - all the pressure was off me - but a few months into it I thought that I want it back, so I'm going to have to try now!"
Anderson, though, will be facing new crowd favourite Paul Lim after the 63-year-old, playing in his 23rd World Championship, produced an astonishing performance to beat former Lakeside Champion Mark Webster in the first round.
Lim is well known globally for his nine-darter back in the 1990 World Championship, but he says he's never experienced anything like the scenes at Ally Pally during his victory over Webster.
"I've been around for a long time but that was something special," said Lim. "There was no comparison (to the nine-darter in 1990) - the atmosphere was just crazy! It makes me wish I was 20 years old and just starting out again.
"Gary is a great gentleman, he lets his darts speak for himself, I just hope that I can have a bit more excitement on that stage and play the best I can."
Van Gerwen dropped just four legs against Christian Kist in the opening round as he averaged 106, and despite being a huge favourite against 32nd seed James Wilson the Dutchman insists that he's taking nobody lightly this year.
"I like to start straight away in top gear because if you underestimate people they can kill you," said Van Gerwen.
"You have to perform round after round, game after game and leg after leg because it's the most important tournament of the year."
Fifth seed Mensur Suljovic faces a a tough task against rejuvenated Scot Robert Thornton, who insists he can now be a match for anybody after illness saw him slide down the world rankings.
"Don't write me off!" said Thornton. "I might be number 27 or 28 now but don't write me off, I'm not defending anything this week so I've got nothing to lose.
"The more rounds I win, the more I'll believe and the harder I'll be to beat."
UK Open finalist Gerwyn Price gets the second round underway against 17th seed Ian White, with the Welshman warning that he can go deep into the tournament after getting over the first round hurdle for the first time.
"I put pressure on myself in this event because I hadn’t won a game, I've lost first round for the first three years so I felt it," said Price. "I don't feel like that at any other tournament.
"At the UK Open I'd never really come through a first round but once I did that I made the final, so the rest better watch out!"
Vincent van der Voort takes on Steve Beaton after beating Dave Chisnall in the first round, while Jan Dekker faces World Youth Champion Dimitri Van den Bergh - who is aiming high afer beating Stephen Bunting.
"My ambition, the way I'm feeling, I'm ready for something big," said Van den Bergh. "My dad says I am and when my dad says it, then it's true.
"I'm going for the quarter-finals at least, and if I get to the quarter-finals I'm definitely going for more, I never give up."
