ADRIAN LEWIS' run to the final of the Bodog.com World Grand Prix has earned him a spot in the Grand Slam of Darts and also moved him up to a career-high fourth place in the PDC Order of Merit.
The 25-year-old won through to his second major ranking final in Dublin, matching his achievement at the 2008 European Championship, when he lost to Phil Taylor.
Although he lost 6-3 to James Wade at the Citywest Hotel, Lewis picked up £40,000 prize money, equalling the biggest pay-day of his career when he reached the 2008 Premier League Darts semi-finals.
That amount saw him jump up from ninth to fourth in the PDC Order of Merit, as the top ten encountered a shake-up following the World Grand Prix.
While Phil Taylor remains as world number one, World Grand Prix champion Wade returnns to second place ahead of Raymond van Barneveld.
Lewis has jumped ahead of Simon Whitlock, who moves up to fifth as Mervyn King and Terry Jenkins slip down to sixth and seventh respectively.
Ronnie Baxter remains eighth, with Colin Lloyd dropping to ninth and Mark Walsh tenth.
Gary Anderson and Wayne Jones moved above Colin Osborne to 12th and 13th, while Co Stompe is now on the brink of a top 16 place for the first time after closing the gap on Kevin Painter to just £40.
Lewis' semi-final win over Phil Taylor, his first defeat of the 15-time World Champion in a televised event, proved doubly significant by earning him a spot in the Grand Slam of Darts next month.
Lewis is the latest player to qualify for the Grand Slam, with places also on offer for the finalists of Championship League Darts' Winners Group on Thursday and for four players in the ITV Wildcard Qualifier on Friday November 5.
The Grand Slam of Darts will be held from November 13-21 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Tickets are available from the Wolves Civic Box Office on 0870 320 7000.
