THE final eight Speedy Qualifiers for the Speedy Hire UK Open were discovered in Glasgow on Friday.
The last of four free-to-enter qualifiers offering 32 places in the UK Open from Speedy Superstores around the UK was held in Glasgow, with hundreds of players bidding to win a place in Bolton.
Players initially threw 15 darts in a bid to score one of the 16 highest cumulative totals, before the leading 16 players competed in knockout games to win through to Bolton in June.
Edinburgh's Ryan Murray won a return to the UK Open, having been one of the Rileys Qualifiers for last year's event, losing out to Jason Clark in round one.
Falkirk-based pair John Donaldson and Duncan Hastings were joined by Glasgow's Tommy Little, Livingston's Kirk Gordon, Edinburgh's Charlie Burns, Middlesbrough's Gordon Foster and Haydock's Danny Jones in qualifying to compete in Bolton from June 2-5.
"Our visit to Glasgow was the final stop on our four-date tour of the UK, and we saved the best for last," said former Lakeside Champion Andy Fordham, who attended each Speedy Qualifier.
"Hundreds of players came along to chance their arm, and the quality was right up there with the best we have seen. I think we will be seeing a lot more of them at the Speedy Hire UK Open, where they might just spring a surprise or two."
