SEAN REED ensured that he will top the DPA's Australian Grand Prix rankings with victory alongside Geoff Kime in the double-header in Redcliffe last weekend.
Reed, a semi-finalist in the 2010 Australian Open Players Championship, has enjoyed great success on the AGP circuit this year.
His victory in Saturday's Redcliffe Darts Club Open, and a semi-final appearance in Sunday's event, saw him win 64 ranking points and move into an unassailable lead ahead of Anthony Fleet in the DPA rankings.
Reed was a 6-3 winner over Russell Homer in Saturday's final, and included former Grand Slam of Darts star Pat Orreal and PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship qualifier Guy Holland amongst his victims in the knockout stage.
Kime ended Reed's hopes of back-to-back victories with a whitewash in Sunday's semi-finals before going on to claim the title with a 6-1 win over Robbie King.
King, a 17-year-old based on the Gold Coast, is one of the two DPA Qualifiers for the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship, and knocked out last year's Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship representative Shane Tichowitsch in the semi-finals as he won through to the decider.
King will be joined by Newcastle's 18-year-old Guy Holland in travelling to England in November to play for the World Youth Championship title.
The Australian Grand Prix continues on September 24 & 25 in Goulburn, with further weekends to follow in Geelong and Boorowa before the end of the season.
