SID WADDELL is set to make a return to the Sky Sports commentary team during the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship.
The veteran commentator has been undergoing treatment for bowel cancer since being diagnosed in September.
Having undergone an initial three-month course of chemotherapy, Waddell is confident of being able to return to the commentary box during the forthcoming World Championship.
"I'm delighted to say I'm planning to attend the World Championship," said Waddell.
"I'll probably only do one or two days to begin with but I'm looking forward to being back in the box. I've watched the World Grand Prix and Grand Slam of Darts from home and they've been fantastic."
He added: "I'd like to thank everyone who's sent their best wishes in the last couple of months. It's been incredible and your support means an incredible amount to me."
Waddell will continue as a columnist for the Sky Sports website throughout the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship, and has also resumed Tweeting through his @SidWaddell account on Twitter.
The Ladbrokes World Darts Championship will be played from December 15 2011-January 2 2012 at Alexandra Palace in London, with coverage live on Sky Sports HD.
