Great Turnout For Q School

OVER 130 players have already entered the PDC ProTour Qualifying School, which will be held from January 19-22 at the Barnsley Metrodome and feature four individual one-day events held for players hoping to win a Tour Card.

The Tour Card entries include former Las Vegas Desert Classic winner Peter Manley and former World Championship semi-finalist Andy Jenkins.

Several young players who played on the Youth Tour last year are also competing in Qualifying School, including event winners Adam Hunt and Ryan Harrington, and Chris Aubrey, who also reached a Players Championship quarter-final in Germany last October.

World Championship qualifier Geoff Kime, Canada's World Youth Championship qualifier Shaun Narain and UK Open amateur qualifiers Andrew Gilding, Richard North and Richie Howson are also competing in Qualifying School.

In addition, 2001 World Grand Prix champion Alan Warriner-Little, 1996 World Matchplay winner Peter Evison and Chris Mason are also bidding to return to the professional circuit.

Entry to the PDC ProTour Qualifying School is still available through the PDPA, costing £200 and available at www.pdpa.co.uk. Entries close at 12pm on Wednesday January 18 2012.

Play at Qualifying School will see Tour Cards awarded to the four semi-finalists from each one-day tournament staged from January 19-22.

In addition, ranking points will allocated for finishing positions in each event to give a ranking list from which further players will receive a Tour Card.

All players who do not win Tour Cards will be awarded PDPA Associate Membership, allowing them to enter the UK Open Qualifiers, non-UK Players Championships and qualifiers for European Tour events, in addition to being able to enter UK-based Players Championships in ranking order should there be a shortfall of 128 players.
