THE McCoy's Premier League Darts Play-Offs clash between Phil Taylor and James Wade on Thursday night will evoke memories of their famous final in the competition two years ago.
Taylor won back the Premier League Darts title at the Wembley Arena with an historic performance as he hit two nine-dart finishes in a 10-8 defeat of reigning champion Wade - the first time any player had achieved the feat in one game.
Taylor also hit seven perfect darts towards a possible third nine-darter later in the game before going on to win a fifth Premier League Darts title.
"I was honoured to be in that game," said Wade. "I think that if Phil didn't hit those two nine-darters, I could maybe have had a shot at winning that game - but I didn't, and he did hit two nine-darters!
"I was quite lucky to be involved in something like that."
Taylor admits that left-hander Wade, who is now the second most successful player in PDC history with seven majors to his name, often pushes him to bring out his best form.
"Against James, you know you're in for a good game," Taylor says. The time I beat him in the final, I nearly hit three nine-darters and only won 10-8.
"He's such a good player that he's predictable and you know you're in for a tough fight, so you might as well just relax and get on with it."

For all games, the order of throw will be decided by a bull-off pre-match in the practice room. Should a game go to a deciding leg, there would not be any further bull-off, meaning that the player who throws first in the opening leg of the game throws first in the deciding leg.
