Robertson Wins Aberdeen Qualifier

SCOTT ROBERTSON won the Rileys Aberdeen Qualifier to earn a place in the Speedy Services UK Open.

Robertson earned is place in next month's UK Open televised finals in Bolton with the success in the penultimate event of the Rileys Qualifiers, which will produce 32 amateur players for 'The FA Cup of Darts'.

Robertson was pushed all the way to a deciding leg in the quarter-finals of the event by Peter Mitchell, before seeing off former UK Open qualifier Ian Gleeson 4-2 in the semi-finals.

He hit a 117 checkout to win the opening leg of the final against Chris Mackie and then doubled his lead with a 14-darter in the second, which also featured a 180 and an 80 finish.

Mackie got off the mark by taking out 106 to win the third leg in 15 darts, but Robertson took the next two to win his place in Bolton.

Mackie failed to drop a leg in his victories over Wullie Thomson and Stephen Michie in the latter stages, and had defeated another former UK Open qualifier, Andy Boulton, earlier in the 32-player event.

Fraserborough-born Robertson now plays Mick Todd in the Preliminary Round of the UK Open on Thursday June 7.

The final Rileys Qualifier will be played in Stirling on Sunday.
