Taylor In Australia Visit

PHIL TAYLOR is to make his first visit to Australia during August as he takes part in the DPA's Festival of Darts on the Gold Coast.

Taylor's visit - his first trip Down under - will see him compete in three DPA events next week, as well as take part in exhibitions in Melbourne and Adelaide alongside top Australian darter Russell Stewart.

The 15-time World Champion will initially compete in the DPA Local Liquor Australian Open on Friday August 17 before playing in the DPA/DPNZ Tournament of Champions on the following day.

The series of events at the Robina Community Centre on the Gold Coast will then conclude with the DPA Australasian Masters on Sunday August 19, when Taylor will line up against world number seven Simon Whitlock, Shane Tichowitsch, Sean Reed and four Qualifiers from a play-off held on the Sunday morning.

Taylor will then travel to Melbourne for an exhibition on Tuesday August 21 at the Moonee Valley Racecourse, where he will play Australian darting legend Stewart - who took victory when they met in the 1988 World Masters.

A second exhibition will take place on Thursday August 23 in Adelaide at the Wolf Blass Winery in the Barossa Valley.

"I'm really looking forward to the trip," said Taylor. "It's a place that I've never been to and I've always wanted to go there.

"First and foremost, I can't wait to experience the country and the culture over there because I've heard so many great things.

"I'm going to enjoy it. I'll be playing in a few exhibitions and a few tournaments and I'm going to love it."

Spectator tickets to watch the events are still available through www.thepowerdownunder.com.au, along with full information about Phil Taylor's appearances.
