Narain Is Top Canadian Youth

SHAUN NARAIN will compete in the 2013 PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship after winning the Canadian Qualifier in London, Ontario last weekend.

The youngster from Calgary won the Canadian Qualifier for the second successive year by defeating Alberta rival Dawson Murschell 4-1 in the final.

Murschell had taken out 106 to win the final's first leg, but Narain levelled and then took out 139 to take the lead, before winning the next two to seal a return to the UK in early 2013 for the World Youth Championship's Last 64.

Narain had defeated Ian Fogarty in the first round before whitewashing Daniel King, before edging out Jeremy Miller in a deciding leg in the semi-finals.

Narain was a 5-4 first round loser to Darren Whittingham last November in the World Youth Championship, and returned to the UK in January to compete in Qualifying School.

He joins Dan Lauby Jnr in qualifying for the 2013 PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship, with the Indiana-based youngster winning the United States Qualifier in Stamford earlier in August.

The Last 64 of the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship will be played during the Spring of 2013, with the final then taking place as part of the McCoy's Premier League Darts Play-Offs.

The top 32 from the final 2012 PDC Unicorn Youth Tour Order of Merit will be joined in the event by a series of International Qualifiers and Rileys Qualifiers. Full details will be confirmed in due course.
