World Series Double For Caldwell

CRAIG CALDWELL has enjoyed a double success after qualifying for both the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters and Sydney Darts Masters in August at the DPNZ's Qualifiers.

Caldwell won both knockouts, which here held in Upper Hutt, as he earned his World Series of Darts debut this August.

He firstly sealed a place in the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters, from August 14-16 at HBF Stadium, with a 7-4 victory over Rob Szabo in the final.

Caldwell also defeated Szabo's recent World Cup of Darts pairs partner Warren Parry in the semi-finals following a 5-1 quarter-final win over Mike Day.

Sunday's Sydney Darts Masters Qualifier saw Caldwell defeat Day once again, this time 6-5 in the semi-finals before he went on to overcome Cody Harris 7-4 in the decider.

Caldwell, who has represented New Zealand in the 2013 and 2014 World Cup of Darts in his two previous televised appearances, also overcame 2015 World Championship qualifier Mark McGrath in sealing a spot in Sydney.

The Sydney Darts Masters will be held from August 20-22 at the Qantas Credit Union Arena, with Caldwell set to be one of eight Oceanic representatives who will take on eight leading PDC stars.

There was consolation for Szabo as he secured a place in the inaugural Auckland Darts Masters, from August 28-30 at the Trusts Arena, as the DPNZ number one, which will see him take to the big stage in his home country.
