Perth Next Up For World Series

THE PDC World Series of Darts concludes its international tournaments with the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters this week.

The third staging of the Perth Darts Masters will see 16 players competing from August 25-27 at the PCEC, where Phil Taylor is bidding to take victory for a third successive year.

Taylor travelled across Australia in jubilant mood following Saturday's fourth successive triumph at the Ladbrokes Sydney Darts Masters, when he defeated Michael van Gerwen in a thrilling final at The Star.

Taylor had also defeated van Gerwen in the inaugural Perth Darts Masters final in 2014 before retaining the title last year by overcoming James Wade in the final.

Both van Gerwen, the world number one, and Wade will be amongst the eight PDC representatives in Perth, alongside World Champion Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall and Raymond van Barneveld.

Their Oceanic challengers will include Perth-based stars Kyle Anderson, David Platt, Adam Rowe, Kim Lewis and Koha Kokiri - who was born in New Zealand before moving to Western Australia.

Top Australian Simon Whitlock will also be in action, with shooting star Corey Cadby and New Zealand's Rob Szabo completing the field.

The tournament's draw will be made on Wednesday evening, with the first round taking place on Thursday night at the PCEC.

The quarter-finals will take place on Friday before the event concludes with the semi-finals and final on Saturday.

Tickets for the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters are still available and can be puchased via the Down Under Events website.

The TABtouch Perth Darts Masters is the sixth of the year's international World Series of Darts events, with Gary Anderson having been victorious in Dubai in May, Auckland in June and Tokyo in July.

Van Gerwen took victory in June's inaugural Shanghai Darts Masters, but was denied another title by Taylor in Sydney.

The year will conclude with the Ladbrokes World Series of Darts Finals at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow in November.
