Moston Wins Junior European Championship

JIM MOSTON won the inaugural Junior European Championship to cap the JDC's weekend of events at Pontins Brean Sands.

The 16-year-old from Stoke emerged victorious in a tight final against Dutch teenager Justin van Tergouw, who came from 2-0 and 3-2 down to level before taking out a superb 147 to move 4-3 up.

Moston hit back to level, and held his nerve in the decider to take the title.

Moston had defeated another 16-year-old Dutch prospect, Wessel Nijman, in the semi-finals, with van Tergouw coming from 2-0 down to win 4-2 against English youngster Billy Holmes.

The weekend at Brean Sands also featured Event Four of the Modus Junior UK Championship Tour, which saw Maikel Verberk defeat Jarred Cole 5-1 in the final.

"It's been a terrific weekend," said JDC Chairman Steve Brown. "We've all been so impressed by the talent and professionalism of all these young players.

"It's a joy to be watching youngsters develop and play some incredible matches within the JDC structure. We have seen some of the best talent on the continent and made some great memories too over three days of mind-blowing darts."
