KIM VILJANEN took a double victory on the opening weekend of the new PDC Nordic & Baltic season, as Veijo Viinikka, Daniel Larsson and Marko Kantele secured European Tour spots.
Finland's Viljanen made the perfect start to the year in the first of five weekends on the PDCNB circuit.
The former World Championship qualifier defeated Sweden's Magnus Caris in the final of Saturday's opening event, before seeing off fellow countryman Kantele in Sunday's €5,000 tournament.
Sweden's Larsson enjoyed a strong weekend by reaching the semi-finals on both days, with fellow Swedes Dennis Nilsson also reaching the last four on Saturday and Oskar Lukasiak making the same stage on Sunday.
Kantele, Denmark's Alex Jensen, Sweden's Goran Erikson and Latvia's Madars Razma were quarter-finalists on Saturday, with Jensen joined by Norway's Cor Dekker, Denmark's Brian Cristiansen and Sweden's Per Knutsson in the last eight on Sunday.
The weekend also saw the Nordic & Baltic Qualifiers held for the first three European Tour events.
Finland's Viinikka - who qualified for the 2011 World Championship - secured a place in March's HappyBet German Darts Championship, with Larsson qualifying for the HappyBet German Darts Masters in April and Kantele winning a spot in the HappyBet German Darts Open.
