Duo Claim DPA AGP Wins

Justin Thompson (DPA)

JUSTIN THOMPSON and Rhys Mathewson were victorious on the third DPA Australian Grand Prix weekend of 2017 at the NDDA in Adelaide.

Thompson won his first Harrows Australian Grand Prix event as he followed up his win in a World Series of Darts Qualifier last month with victory over John Weber in Saturday's final.

Thompson also overcame Daniel Sim, Laurie Loch, Raymond O'Donnell and Peter Machin in the knockout phase of the event.

Sunday's tournament saw Mathewson claim his second AGP title of the year, following up his Event Four triumph with victory over PDC Unicorn World Youth Champion Corey Cadby in the Event Six final.

Mathewson also knocked out Robbie King, Haydn Cox, Aaron Morrison and O'Donnell in the knockout stages.

Machin was a semi-finalist on both days, with O'Donnell reaching one semi-final and one quarter-final and Event Three winner Lucas Cameron making the last eight on both days.

The weekend had begun with the third DPA World Series of Darts Qualifier, which was won by Cadby as he defeated Mathewson 6-3 in the final.

The next DPA Australian Grand Prix weekend will be held from March 24-26 at the Warilla Bowls Club in NSW. For more details, visit www.dartplayersaustralia.com.
