DAVE CHISNALL produced an incredible comeback from 2-0 down to defeat Josh Payne 3-2 in the second round of the 2018/19 William Hill World Darts Championship.
Payne, a winner of two PDC ranking events, romped away with the first two sets without dropping a leg, averaging 109.98 in the process.
At 2-2 in the third set, former World Youth Championship finalist Payne was throwing for the match but a strong leg from Chisnall saw him find his favourite double top to pull a set back.
Two-time televised finalist Chisnall took the fourth set 3-1 to take the rollercoaster tie all the way and, after Payne missed two darts for a break, Chisnall pinned double 19 to make it 1-1.
A 13-dart break of throw saw Chisnall take the lead for the first time in the match and then missed two match darts, but Payne fired wide on double 16, allowing Chisnall an attempt at double two which he found at the first attempt to move into the third round.
