CHRIS DOBEY reached the last 16 of the William Hill World Darts Championship for the first time thanks to a 4-3 victory over Vincent van der Voort.
A tight contest saw the first four sets all go with throw, the third of which Dobey won with a 110 average, but it was Van der Voort who broke throw twice in set five to take a 3-2 lead in sets.
Two-time TV quarter-finalist Dobey battled back, winning the next set without losing a leg to take the match to a deciding set.
There was still nothing to separate the pair at 1-1, before perfectly-timed 13 and 15 dart legs saw Dobey get over the finish line, and he will now face Gary Anderson for a place in the last eight.
