Michael van Gerwen and Glen Durrant have exchanged words ahead of tonight's top-of-the-table Unibet Premier League clash.
With the pair tied on ten points at the summit of the Premier League table, the winner of tonight's crucial encounter will claim top spot heading into Judgement Night.
Five-time Premier League champion Van Gerwen eased past Rob Cross as the tournament resumed on Tuesday night, and the Dutchman had plenty to say about his next opponent, whom he has lost to twice in their previous two meetings.
"Glen is a phenomenal player. He's not only a good player but a boring player, he sucks the energy out of you," said Van Gerwen.
"You have to play your 'A-game' if you want to beat him. It’s tough to play him, he’s like a silent killer.
“I'm not bothered that I lost twice to him before. It’s only two games. I lost two games to Toon Greebe before and I’m 2-0 down to him as well; that doesn’t say anything.
“I’m over the moon with how I played against Rob, I think it was a dominant performance."
The most famous meeting between Van Gerwen and Durrant saw the three-time Lakeside Champion claim a memorable win in the second round of his World Matchplay debut (above).
Durrant will be out to maintain his unbeaten record against the world number one, having begun the restart with a draw against Peter Wright.
“Michael doesn't show me an awful lot of respect. He's the best player in the world but I really want to beat him," said Durrant.
"I feel good going into one of my biggest nights of my life.
“My first reflection at the end of last night's game was that it wasn’t a good point because I felt I was in charge of the match.
"But when you're playing the World Champion, he’s a phenomenal player so I probably would've taken a 6-6 result before the match.
"The new flights are going well but the strength in my game is my doubling. My scoring was good, I just need to work on a little bit of finishing now.
“When the World Champion is on a finish, you’ve got to expect the chance that you’re not coming back but that hurt. If I would have lost 7-5 that would have been a really tough night but I’m up and running.”
Night Eight of the Unibet Premier League will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, on PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers and through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and RTL7.
