2024 Betfred World Matchplay race ahead of ET8

Betfred World Matchplay

The race to qualify for the 2024 Betfred World Matchplay continues this weekend, when the NEO.bet European Darts Open takes place in Germany.

The eighth PDC European Tour event of 2024 will be held at the Ostermann-Arena from June 21-23, as 48 players compete for the £30,000 top prize in Leverkusen.

This weekend's European Darts Open is one of three ranking events remaining before the World Matchplay qualification cut-off, with a Players Championship double-header on July 2-3 representing the final opportunity for players to book their spots in Blackpool.

Following the conclusion of Players Championship 14 on July 3, the 32-player field for next month's Betfred World Matchplay will be confirmed.

The top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit will be seeded for July's showpiece event, and they will be joined by 16 qualifiers from the one-year ProTour Order of Merit.

World number one Luke Humphries will headline a star-studded line-up, which will also include reigning champion Nathan Aspinall and former winners Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Peter Wright and Dimitri Van den Bergh.

2018 champion Gary Anderson will head up the 16 qualifiers from the one-year ProTour Order of Merit, as Premier League champion Luke Littler prepares to make his debut in the £800,000 event.

Josh Rock and Martin Schindler - winners on the European Tour in 2024 - are also poised to make their World Matchplay returns, while 2007 champion James Wade currently occupies the final provisional qualification place on the ProTour Order of Merit.

The tables below show the latest standings in the race to the Betfred World Matchplay, which will take place at Blackpool's Winter Gardens from July 13-21, televised on Sky Sports and through the PDC's global broadcast partners.

N.B. Players competing in the NEO.bet European Darts Open (ET8) and Players Championships 13-14 who are not listed below can still qualify via the ProTour Order of Merit.

The ProTour Order of Merit table used for Betfred World Matchplay qualification runs from 2023 Players Championship 15 to 2024 Players Championship 14.

The tournament will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and Viaplay, and on PDCTV (excluding UK, Germany, Austria & Switzerland based subscribers).
