Five more International Qualifiers confirmed for World Darts Championship

Noa-Lynn van Leuven, Fallon Sherrock, Gordon Mathers, Sandro Eric Sosing and Lok Yin Lee joined the list of International Qualifiers for the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship at the weekend.

Van Leuven and Sherrock sealed their qualification via the PDC Women’s Series, finishing second and third respectively on the Women's Series Order of Merit following the conclusion of the 2024 season on Sunday.

Van Leuven claimed four Women’s Series titles throughout the year to confirm her World Championship debut, producing a record-breaking 109.64 average to clinch the Event 21 title on Saturday.

Sherrock, meanwhile, will make her fifth Alexandra Palace appearance in December, having claimed a hat-trick of Women’s Series titles in 2024 to extend her overall tally to 17.

Elsewhere, former PDC Tour Card Holder Mathers secured his place in the sport’s flagship event with victory in the DPA Oceanic Masters on Sunday, sealed with a 3-1 success against Harley Kemp.

The 43-year-old also overcame the likes of Craig Caldwell, Mark Cleaver and Jaymie Hilton-Jones to secure a place in his fourth World Championship, ending his three-year wait for an Ally Pally return.

Sosing and Lee will also feature in the 96-player field after producing impressive displays in last weekend’s PDC Asian Championship in Manila.

Sosing – a PDC Asian Championship runner-up in 2023 - progressed to a second straight final on home soil, before succumbing 7-3 to his compatriot Lourence Ilagan.

Sosing defeated Lok Yin Lee in a dramatic semi-final showdown, fending off a late fightback from the Hong Kong youngster to prevail in a last-leg decider.

However, Lee’s run to the semi-finals was enough to earn a World Championship debut as the next-best-placed non-qualified player from the PDC Asian Championship, with Ilagan having already sealed his spot via the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Three more International Qualifiers for the 2024/25 World Darts Championship will be confirmed over the coming weeks, as further events are held around the globe.

The 2024 Winmau Challenge Tour will conclude on Sunday November 3, with the top two players on the final Challenge Tour Order of Merit set to qualify for the £2.5m event.

The HYLO PDC Europe Super League winner will also earn a place at Alexandra Palace, as 30 players go head-to-head across four days of action in Hildesheim.
