The 2023/24 Paddy Power World Darts Championship was named as Best Sports Event at the prestigious Sports Business Awards on Friday.
The tournament received five nominations in the 2024 Sports Business Awards, which celebrates excellence across sport in a variety of categories.
The 2023/24 Paddy Power World Darts Championship was a huge success, with an incredible sell-out event at Alexandra Palace seeing Luke Humphries defeat Luke Littler in a final which created record-breaking viewing figures and drew global attention.
The event was Paddy Power's first as title sponsor, and alongside their unique style of activation also featured the sport's biggest-ever charity partnership with Prostate Cancer UK - as THE BIG 180 saw over £1m donated.
The tournament scooped the headline award in Friday's Sports Business Awards ceremony in London, being named again as Best Sports Event.
The event also received a nomination in the following categories for the 2024 Sports Business Awards:
Sponsorship/Partnership of the Year - UK
Best Marketing Campaign
Best Brand Activation Involving Sport
Most Successful Sports Broadcast
In addition, PDC partner Village Hotels was nominated in the Best Business Serving Sport - Over £3m Turnover.
The World Darts Championship has been recognised a number of times in recent years, while the 2023 awards saw the PDC receive bronze awards for its commitment to women's darts in the Women's Sport Business Award and for Bullseye Maths in the Best Sports Community or CSR Scheme categories.
