Luke Littler is on the hunt for more silverware after storming to Ladbrokes UK Open glory in record-breaking fashion on Sunday.
Littler produced a darting demolition job to dispatch James Wade 11-2 in Sunday’s showpiece at Butlin’s Minehead Resort, after racing into a remarkable 9-0 lead at one stage.
Adrian Lewis’ 11-1 thumping of Terry Jenkins back in 2014 remains the biggest margin of victory in a UK Open final, although that appeared under threat at one stage as Littler blew Wade away.
The World Champion was in scintillating form throughout the weekend, posting ton-plus averages in five of his six matches, while also landing a record-high 47 maximums on his way to the title.
Littler kicked off his challenge with an epic 10-9 victory over Peter Wright, averaging almost 109 to deny the two-time World Champion in a quality contest.
Following a routine 10-4 win against Jermaine Wattimena, Littler then defied a late onslaught to see off Krzysztof Ratajski, before sweeping aside Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton on Finals Day.
“I’m very happy with the way I played throughout the whole weekend,” insisted Littler, who averaged 107 and 106 to account for Van Veen and Clayton.
“Obviously my first game against Peter Wright was a last-leg decider which I managed to battle through.
“Ever since then I was able to grow in confidence and grow into the tournament.
“I know where my best game is at and it was certainly there this weekend, and it means the world to win this trophy.”
Littler’s rise to prominence began in Minehead back in November 2023, when he defeated Van Veen to lift the Winmau World Youth Championship title at the age of 16.
The Warrington wonderkid has now claimed 12 senior PDC titles in his fledgling career, having celebrated Premier League, Grand Slam of Darts, World Series of Darts Finals and World Championship success within the last year.
“I just want to win as much as I possibly can,” declared the teenage sensation.
“I have said plenty of times in the past that my goal is to win every major [title].
“I know Luke Humphries said the same thing about winning the UK Open, so I’m really glad to tick this one off!”
