Caris Wins European Championship Place

MAGNUS CARIS has won a place in the Unibet European Championship through the SDC Qualifiers in Finland.

The Swedish number one edged out Finnish thrower Ulf Ceder 6-5 in the final of the Scandinavian Darts Corporation's qualified at the Hotel Tallukka in Vaasky as he booked his place in this month's ITV-televised event.

Caris also overcame Oskar Lukasiak, Vesa Porkola, Ville Petamajaki and Petri Korte during the knockout.

Caris has previously competed in the European Championship in 2011 and 2012, and has also competed in four PDC World Championships and five times at the PDC World Cup of Darts, while he is also a former Lakeside Championship and World Masters semi-finalist.

Caris' rivals in the 32-player field for the Unibet European Championship will be confirmed on October 18 following the European Tour event in Sindelfingen.

The leading 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit qualify by right, alongside eight players from the ProTour Order of Merit and a further seven European players from the ProTour Order of Merit.
