Charity Partnership Raises £100,000!

THE Professional Darts Corporation's partnership with the Donna Louise Children's Hospice has helped to raise the charity over £100,000 over the past year.

The Staffordshire-based children's hospice was the PDC's official charity partner for 2015/2016, extending their association with the sport after Stoke superstar Phil Taylor was previously made a "Celebrity Champion".

Taylor was involved in two of the charity's events during the year, as he joined Adrian Lewis, Ian White and Andy Hamilton for the Darts For Donna Louise Exhibition at the King's Hall in October before joining PDC Chairman Barry Hearn and former England footballer David Seaman for "An Evening With..." in December.

The Donna Louise Children's Hospice also staged the Darts For Donna Louise Masters during the year - where 16 pubs and clubs held knockouts before the finals were held as part of October's exhibition event - and received a £9,000 donation from William Hill following Gary Anderson's nine-dart finish at the William Hill World Darts Championship.

Their charity auction during last week's PDC Annual Awards Dinner at The Dorchester raised almost £17,000 and also took the year's total amount raised beyond the £100,000 mark.

"It's wonderful that the Donna Louise Children's Hospice has been able to raise such a large sum over the past 12 months," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"The work that they do is invaluable in the local community, and on behalf of the PDC I'd like to thank everyone who has supported their events and donated during the past year."

Melanie Williams, Head of High Value Partnerships for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice, added: "We would like to say a very big thank you to the PDC for their support which helped us raise this incredible amount for our hospice.

"As a charity, we rely on fundraising to meet the £3million a year costs of providing specialist care for life-threatened children and support for their families.

"We look forward to bringing darts back home to Stoke again through our events in 2016."

Darts fans can continue to support the Donna Louise Children's Hospice throughout 2016 through their range of fundraising events, which includes charity marathons and fun runs, the Superhero Skydives and an Annual Ball.
