Final Tributes To Phil Da'Casto

THE funeral of Phil Da'Casto took place on Tuesday 12 September, with representatives from the world of darts paying their respects.

Phil, 51, passed away peacefully at home at the end of August following a battle with cancer.

His funeral took place on Tuesday at Streetly Crematorium, with Tournament Officials Tommy Cox, Eddie Cox and Graham Fairhurst representing the PDC.

Eric Bristow, for whom Phil worked as driver and MC at his exhibitions, led the tributes to his close friend along with Dennis Priestley and wife Jenny.

Representatives from Sky Sports, where Phil worked for two years as a 'spotter' at live events, also attended the funeral, including director Andy Finn and commentator John Gwynne.

Many other players and officials who were unable to attend sent floral tributes.

"Phil was a lovely guy and he will be sadly missed," said PDC Chief Executive Tim Darby.

"He was liked by everyone, and was a popular member of the Sky Sports production team as well as among players and officials.

"It is always sad to lose someone who has made such a contribution both to Eric's career and to darts in general and even more so when they are just aged 51.

"Our thoughts go out to his wife Karen and two children."
