ERIK CLARYS is to undergo another operation on his injured elbow as he continues his battle to make a full recovery.
Clarys has been out of action since June after shattering his elbow in a fall at work only a week before the Budweiser UK Open finals.
He has had a string of operations in a bid to restore full movement to the joint, which was dislocated and broken in five places.
He had hoped to return for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship PDPA Qualifiers last December, but continued pain and a build-up of calcium around the elbow denied him that opportunity.
A recent visit to a specialist left Clarys with the choice of having a further operation to re-set his arm and wrist to restore full movement and keep alive his dream of returning to the circuit or retiring.
"This is not guaranteed, but if I do not try it then I will have to stop playing darts," revealed Clarys in his column in the Darts4You magazine.
Clarys has also considered practising left-handed, but is now stepping back from his magazine column until he has made his recovery.
