JOSHUA RICHARDSON has capped the Junior Darts Corporation's first year with victory in the JDC Finals, defeating Dan Perry in the final.
The 17-year-old from Rushden emerged victorious from Saturday's 16-player JDC Finals, which featured the six tournament winners from the 2015 season plus ten other qualifiers.
Richardson defeated Tyler Radlett in the quarter-finals, whitewashed Connor Levett 5-0 with a 90 average in his semi-final and then defeated Perry in the final.
The student from Northamptonshire is the son of PDC player James Richardson, who famously knocked Raymond van Barneveld out of the World Championship four years ago.
The youngster will now receive a special presentation on stage at Alexandra Palace during the William Hill World Darts Championship to recognise his achievement.
John Brown, the son of another professiona star Steve Brown, who has co-founded the JDC and spearheaded the development of darts academies across the UK, was a semi-finalist as he followed up his JDC event win earlier in the year with a strong challenge for the title.
The JDC circuit sees players competing across the UK graded throughout each eight-week season, and given shirts to reflect the colour of their average score/grading.
In addition, a series of tournaments are held across the year, which will include a Junior European Championship in September 2016 at Pontins Brean Sands.
The JDC is open to players aged 8-18, and is supported by the PDC with the aim of providing players with a pathway through to the PDC Unicorn Development Tour and the professional circuit.
