John Magowan 2-1 Alan Caves (0-3, 3-0, 3-0)
Sky Bet World Grand Prix First Round
JOHN MAGOWAN produced a remarkable comeback to extend Alan Caves' misery in major PDC tournaments with a 2-1 first round triumph.
Caves entered the Sky Bet World Grand Prix having never won a televised game, but looked set to finally end that run when he won the first set 3-0.
Magowan, however, had other thoughts and reeled off six successive legs to stun Caves and book a place in round two.
"It's not easy coming from a set down, but I knew I had to and I regrouped," said 64-year-old Magowan, a qualifier from Northern Ireland.
"I slowed down a little because Alan's a quick thrower and sometimes when you play someone like that you speed up and it puts you off your rhythm.
"I'll look forward to Peter Manley now, he's a similar player but I'll just have to play my own game."
