TONY O'SHEA hit the second nine-dart leg in as many days at the Topic International Darts League on Wednesday - but Phil Taylor suffered defeat to Darryl Fitton.
Cheshire-based O'Shea matched Taylor's perfect leg during his 7-3 victory over Adrian Lewis in the second round two match.
Unfortunately for O'Shea, who was celebrating his 46th birthday, he will receive no prize for the feat after Taylor scooped the Opel Tigra car on Tuesday when he landed a nine-darter against Raymond van Barneveld.
Van Barneveld - the defending IDL champion - bounced back from his defeat to Taylor with a 7-5 win over Michael van Gerwen.
Van Gerwen levelled the game at five-all, but the World Champion took the final two legs to all-but-end the teenager's hopes of progressing to the quarter-finals.
Darryl Fitton averaged almost 106 in defeating Taylor 7-5, virtually ensuring his place in the last eight on Friday and leaving Taylor needing to defeat van Gerwen on Thursday to stay in the hunt.
Gary Anderson remained unbeaten in Group I a quarter-final place by edging out Gary Robson 7-6 in their clash, while Martin Adam won 7-2 against Mark Dudbridge to get off the mark.
Australia's Simon Whitlock enjoyed a 7-5 victory over Wayne Mardle to condemn the Englishman to a second defeat of round two.
Welshman Mark Webster subjected James Wade to his first defeat of the event with a 7-2 triumph in the night's final game.
Webster is the only player confirmed into the quarter-finals after picking up a second win, with the winner of Thursday's clash between Waites and Wade joining him in the last eight.
