ADRIAN LEWIS reclaimed the Scottish PDPA Players Championship title with a 3-1 win over Mick McGowan at the Magnum Centre, Irvine.
In a repeat of the 2005 final, Lewis took the £5,000 first prize with a superb display.
He trailed McGowan following a superb set, but reeled off six legs from eight to win the match.
Lewis opened by breaking the Irishman's throw with a superb 121 finish on the bull for a 12 dart leg, before McGowan responded with a maximum and a 125 checkout to level the set.
McGowan - who won the Ireland Open Classic recently - took the first set with a 13-dart leg on double top in the decider.
Lewis landed his first maximum on the way to the opening leg of the second set, but McGowan responded with six perfect darts in the next - with Lewis landing one of his own - to set up another decider.
Stoke star Lewis hit another maximum to open the third leg, and a second 180 of the leg helped him on the way to a 13-darter to square the match.
Lewis again broke McGowan's throw with a 14-darter to begin the third set, and landed double four to take the set despite yet another maximum from his opponent.
A Lewis 180 and 68 checkout left him within a leg of the match before McGowan scrambled to stay alive with double seven.
However, Lewis' heavy scoring was too much in the deciding leg of the fourth set, and he took out double five to clinch the victory.
"I'm delighted," said Lewis. "This means I'm unbeaten for over a year in Scotland - after winning both events last time around.
"The final was a really high standard and full credit to Mick for getting through again. He played superbly but I'm glad I pulled it out in the final."
Lewis also overcame three players from the world's top 16 - Colin Lloyd, Ronnie Baxter and Kevin Painter - on his way to the final.
McGowan failed to drop a leg in an impressive win over Dennis Priestley, and then won 3-1 against in-form Terry Jenkins in the semis.
Baxter came from a set down against Roland Scholten to win in a deciding set, while Priestley held off a fightback from Raymond van Barneveld to win in the final leg of their last 16 clash.
Adrian Lewis is pictured being presented with a set of commemorative, PDPA inscribed wine glasses by PDPA Chairman Peter Manley and local youngster Blair Davidson
