Then There Were Four!

JUST over two weeks since the William Hill World Darts Championship kicked off with 72 competitors, the last four players are preparing for Saturday night's semi-finals at Alexandra Palace.

Both matches are repeats of classic contests from last year's World Championship, as Raymond van Barneveld plays Adrian Lewis before Gary Anderson takes on Jelle Klaasen.

A year ago, Lewis landed a sensational nine-dart finish to win the opening leg of his clash with van Barneveld, who went on to win the third round game 4-3 after his opponent missed a match dart in the sixth set.

Anderson had been a second round winner, also by a 4-3 margin, when he took on Klaasen, but the Dutchman led 3-1 before seeing Anderson sweep through the final three sets.

Intriguingly, both semi-finals could force repeats of previous major finals, with Lewis having defeated Anderson in the 2011 World Championship final and Klaasen having seen off van Barneveld in the 2006 Lakeside Championship decider.Saturday January 2.

Reigning champion Anderson remains the 11/10 tournament favourite with sponsors William Hill, with Lewis 9/4, van Barneveld 5/1 and Klaasen the 8/1 outsider going into the semi-finals.
