MARK WEBSTER is hoping to continue his progression at the Rileys Darts Zones UK Open.
The Welshman will make his second appearance at Bolton this weekend, having made his debut in a major PDC event at the UK Open a year ago, when he reached the last 16.
He went on to reach the semi-finals of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship at Christmas, defeating Raymond van Barneveld to finish third in the event, and has broken into the PDC's top 32 since.
The former Lakeside Champion has shown further glimpses of his form since to earn a top 32 spot in the UK Open Order of Merit, ensuring he enters the Bolton event in the third round on Friday night.
"I'm looking forward to it because it's a good tournament," he told Sportslive Internet Radio.
"I played in the UK Open last year and got to the last 16, and I was a bit unfortunate to lose to Terry Jenkins at that stage.
"Nobody is aware of the draw [for the third round] until late on Thursday night and you play on Friday so you haven't got a lot of time to prepare for it, but you've just got to try and play your own game.
"If you get through the Friday night you're into the weekend then and into the tournament."
Webster enjoyed his best weekend on the PDC ProTour a month ago when he made back-to-back semi-finals in Wigan, and he admits he is adapting to the demands of the non-televised circuit.
"I always knew that my floor play wasn't great - it's a bit more intense but I'm slowly getting used to it," said Webster.
"I've improved and I've got one foot in the door for the World Matchplay next month and I want to keep qualifying for all the major events during the year.
"The last six months from the World Championship onwards have been good and I've enjoyed it. I had a bit of a rough ride last year and struggled to get past first rounds.
"It took time but I'm getting there now and I just want to keep on improving."
