THE opening day of the SINGHA Beer Grand Slam of Darts will include the group matches between reigning champion Michael van Gerwen and Martin Adams, six-time winner Phil Taylor against Darryl Fitton and former champion Scott Waites against Robert Thornton on Saturday November 12.
The nine-day Grand Slam of Darts, televised live on Sky Sports, begins as the 32 players are split into eight groups of four for the round-robin phase.
Reigning Grand Slam of Darts champion Michael van Gerwen, the number one seed, will open his title defence with the high-profile clash against three-time Lakeside Champion Martin Adams, with Brendan Dolan taking on Max Hopp in the other Group A clash.
Groups D, E and H will also be in action on Saturday night at the Wolves Civic, with the matches including the meeting between World Champion Gary Anderson and BDO number one Glen Durrant after their Group E rivals Alan Norris and Nathan Derry also clash.
Six-time Grand Slam of Darts winner Phil Taylor, last year's beaten finalist, opens his challenge against Darryl Fitton in Group D, which also sees Ian White up against Darren Webster.
Number three seed Adrian Lewis, the two-time PDC World Champion, will meet former Lakeside Champion Scott Mitchell in Group H, which also features Benito van de Pas' clash with Chris Dobey.
Saturday's afternoon session will see the tournament open with Groups B, C, F and G in action.
2010 Grand Slam of Darts winner Scott Waites, the reigning Lakeside Champion, will be in action against number eight seed Robert Thornton, with Gerwyn Price up against Belgian youngster Dimitri Van den Bergh in the other Group B contest.
Group C opens with the meetings between Peter Wright and Canada's Jeff Smith and Simon Whitlock's clash with TV debutant Ted Evetts.
Group F features former Grand Slam of Darts Champion Raymond van Barneveld taking on youngster Nathan Aspinall and number seven seed Mensur Suljovic up against another Dutchman, Danny Noppert.
Former Wolverhampton finalist James Wade, the seeded player in Group G, opens up against local ace Jamie Hughes, with another former Grand Slam of Darts finalist Dave Chisnall taking on James Wilson.
Sunday's play will see the groups play their second matches, with Saturday's two winning players facing off and the losing players also meeting, with the final group matches split across Monday and Tuesday evenings.
The top two players from each group then progress to the knockout last 16 stage, with the second round on Wednesday and Thursday and the quarter-finals on Friday and Saturday.
Sunday November 20 then sees the semi-finals in the afternoon session before the event concludes with the final in the evening session.
