Luke Humphries and Luke Littler dominated the 2023 PDC Annual Awards following their record-breaking World Darts Championship final, with Humphries named PDC Player of the Year.
Humphries, who lifted World Grand Prix, Grand Slam and Players Championship Finals titles in 2023, capped off a sensational campaign by storming to World Darts Championship glory in January.
The 28-year-old defeated Littler in a ground-breaking final at Alexandra Palace, recovering from 4-2 down in sets to triumph in the most watched non-football event ever broadcast on Sky Sports.
The world number one enjoyed a sensational 19-match winning run between November and January, after winning a brace of Players Championship titles and a fifth European Tour crown earlier this year.
Humphries' treble success in the 2023 PDC Annual Awards also saw him crowned Village Fans’ Player of the Year and PDPA Players’ Player of the Year.
The World Champion received over 60% of the vote from the thousands of fans who took part in the Village Fans’ Player of the Year poll, while he claimed two-thirds of the votes from his fellow professionals.
"These awards mean a lot to me," reflected Humphries, who joins Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson, Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith in claiming multiple awards in one year.
"I've already won Best Newcomer, Young Player of the Year and ProTour Player of the Year, so I'm going for the full collection now!
"It's a real privilege to win these three awards, and I really appreciate all the fans voting for me and my fellow players selecting me.
"It's great to get that recognition and at least I can say that once in my lifetime I was the greatest player in the world!"
World Championship runner-up Littler scooped two awards following his astonishing debut campaign at Alexandra Palace, where he became the youngest player to progress to a senior PDC final.
The 17-year-old received the Toyo Tires Televised Performance of the Year for his semi-final victory over Rob Cross, which saw him average over 106 to demolish the 2018 World Champion 6-2 in sets.
Littler was also crowned Winmau Young Player of the Year, after reaching the fourth round of the UK Open on his televised debut, before lifting the World Youth Championship title in November.
"It means the world to me," claimed Littler, a winner of five Winmau Development Tour titles in 2023.
"I'm really grateful to win these awards, and I'm glad my performances have earned me these trophies.
"The World Championship was a great tournament all round for me, but the game against Rob was my best performance.
"I don't want to put too much pressure on myself, but hopefully I can let my darts do the talking and create more history in 2024."
Elsewhere, Dave Chisnall and Gian van Veen were also recognised following their achievements over the last 12 months.
World number ten Chisnall was awarded ProTour Player of the Year after scooping five titles throughout 2023, which included a hat-trick of European Tour successes.
The 43-year-old secured titles in Kiel, Leeuwarden and Budapest to finish top of the European Tour Order of Merit, while also adding a further two Players Championship titles to his haul.
Van Veen, meanwhile, was awarded Moneybarn Best Newcomer following his breakthrough 2023 campaign.
The 21-year-old topped the Winmau Development Tour Order of Merit after winning six titles throughout the year, before announcing his big stage arrival with a run to the European Championship semi-finals.
The young Dutchman also featured in a ProTour final in August, before narrowly losing out to Littler in November’s World Youth Championship showpiece.
"It's a huge honour to win the Best Newcomer award," said Van Veen, a semi-finalist at last weekend's Dutch Darts Masters.
"I have had an amazing first year on the tour, and I'm really looking forward to building on that in 2024."
