Peter Wright has reclaimed a place in the world's top ten after returning to winning ways at the NEO.bet German Darts Championship last weekend.
Wright secured his first PDC ranking title since October 2023 following a string of inspired displays in Hildesheim, defeating Stephen Bunting, Gian van Veen, Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall and Luke Littler to pocket the £30,000 top prize.
The two-time World Champion edged out an impressive Bunting in round two, before overturning a 4-2 deficit to stun Van Gerwen in an epic quarter-final, reeling off the last four legs in 13, 12, 11 and 14 darts to triumph with a 108.9 average.
The 54-year-old then defied a 106 average and ten 180s from Littler to prevail in an astonishing final, which saw him celebrate his ninth European Tour title - a record only bettered by Michael van Gerwen.
Wright's exploits in Hildesheim saw him overhaul Ross Smith and Dimitri Van den Bergh to move up to tenth on the Order of Merit, while Stephen Bunting and Danny Noppert have climbed to 14th and 15th respectively at the expense of Joe Cullen.
Littler's run to Sunday's showpiece has moved him to a career-high of world number 22, and the teenager could break into the world's top 20 with victory at this weekend's Flanders Darts Trophy.
