Wade Ready For Blackpool Return

JAMES WADE aims to gun down John Part as he begins his challenge to reach a sixth BetVictor World Matchplay final in eight years tonight.

2007 World Matchplay champion Wade - pictured above celebrating with the trophy in front of the famous Blackpool Tower - has also been the runner-up four times at the Winter Gardens, with his record in the event bettered only by 13-time winner Phil Taylor.

Wade could meet Taylor in the semi-finals of the tournament next Saturday, although he faces a tough first hurdle in three-time World Champion John Part in tonight's first round.

The left-hander, ranked fourth in the world, has reached the 2013 World Championship and Premier League semi-finals and was a quarter-finalist in last month's UK Open, and is in confident mood as he returns to his favourite venue, the Winter Gardens.

"I'm really looking forward to it," said Wade. "I've been working hard over the last 12 months and I'm sure that will come to fruition at some point.

"It would be great if it happened in Blackpool, but the only game I'm thinking about right now is John Part on Saturday.

"I know what John can do and he knows what I can do - if we both do it then it should be a great game."

Wade added: "I've done well in Blackpool so far and I think that's because I feel very comfortable.

"It is my favourite tournament. The venue is fantastic and so are the crowd. They are genuine darts fans and very respectful while enjoying themselves, which enables us to produce the best performances."
