Austrian Darts Open Schedule of Play

THE schedule of play for the Austrian Darts Open has been confirmed, ahead of the PDC's return to Wiener Neustadt at the end of May.

The fourth of eight £100,000 European Tour events will be held from May 31-June 2 at the Arena Nova in Wiener Neustadt, with 64 players competing for the title across three days.

Play will be held across two stages in the first round on Friday May 31, with ten games per session being played on the main stage.

2012 champion Justin Pipe will be in action in the opening session on Friday afternoon when he faces Kevin McDine, who was one of the 20 UK Qualifiers for the event.

Kevin Painter will kick the event off against York's Terry Temple, while McCoy's Premier League stars Wes Newton and Andy Hamilton are also in action on Friday afternoon, with the Fleetwood ace playing European Tour debutant Paul Barham and the Stoke star taking on a European Qualifier.

Former World Champions Mark Webster and Richie Burnett are also in action on Friday afternoon, alongside last month's European Darts Open runner-up Paul Nicholson, Dave Chisnall, Ronnie Baxter and Terry Jenkins.

Three-time World Champion John Part, March's UK Masters winner, opens his challenge against Kevin Dowling on stage two on Friday afternoon.

Recent UK Open Qualifier winner Kim Huybrechts, Mervyn King, Colin Lloyd, Peter Wright and Ian White are also in action in the afternoon session.

World Champion Phil Taylor takes to the stage against Derby qualifier Jim Walker on Friday evening, with Adrian Lewis playing Steve Beaton in a battle of former World Champions.

James Wade - last year's Austrian Darts Open runner-up - will be joined by Raymond van Barneveld and Robert Thornton in taking on European Qualifiers, while Mark Walsh and Andy Smith will play Austrian Qualifiers on the main stage in the evening session.

World number two Michael van Gerwen's bid for a first European Tour triumph opens as he faces Alan Tabern, while Simon Whitlock meets Steve Hine and Gary Anderson opens up against John Bowles.

UK Masters runner-up Stuart Kellett will be in action on stage two, with former World Youth Champion Arron Monk, former major finalists Wayne Jones, Brendan Dolan and Colin Osborne and Jamie Caven also opening their challenges in Friday's evening session.

The tournament will continue with the second round played across two sessions on the main stage on Saturday, with the third round on Sunday afternoon before the Sunday evening session features the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
