THE third Speedy Amateur Qualifier for the Speedy Services UK Open has seen a further eight players win places in June's Televised Finals in Bolton.
The famous Wolverhampton Civic Hall hosted the third of four Speedy Qualifiers which are giving amateur players the chance to win their place alongside darts' biggest names in the Speedy Services UK Open from June 6-9.
Last week saw the first two events held at Hampden Park in Glasgow and at Manchester's Old Trafford, with the Wolves Civic welcoming over 200 players for Monday's event.
Players initially threw 15 darts in a bid to be one of the top 16 scores, with those players then playing off over the best of three legs for the right to qualify to play in Bolton.
Glen Cullen (578) and Neil Wild (540) both topped 500 points from their 15 darts, but were defeated in the knockout stage by Darrell Thorpe and Matt Gallett respectively.
Jake Pennington, who like Gallett competed on the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour last year, defeated Jim Elsey 2-1 in their knockout to win through to Bolton alongside a former UK Open amateur qualifier Dean Stewart, who defeated Ricky Nathan in a decider.
Liverpool's Robbie Green, another player with UK Open experience (pictured) and a former World Masters finalist. defeated Jordan Johnston to win his UK Open return, with Gavin Baker, Michael Musto and Robbie Singleton also winning through.
1983 World Champion Keith Deller scored 355 from his 15 darts to miss out on the play-offs, but is expected to try his hand for a second time in Wednesday's final Speedy Qualifier at London's Alexandra Palace.
